5/8/2017 0 Comments So What Blog Post Over the past week I have been reading Prisoner B-3087 by Alan Grantz. But I've been wondering, So What? How is the book important? Also, what is the main takeaway of the book? Well, that all will all be answered and more will be answered in this blog post.
As you may know my book takes place in Poland during the Holocaust. It tells the true story of Yanek who gets taken away by the Nazis because of his Jewish heritage to concentration camps. As he is on his travels through the camps he meets new characters who help or hurt him along the way. The novel ends with him being saved by the American soldiers who stumbled along the camp. He is excited but saddened knowing that he is now alone in a some what normal world. I feel that my book's main takeaway was that, No matter what life throughs your way keep your head up and don't stop fighting. I came to this idea because of this quote... "I picked my self up, I wasn't a Muselman. Might be starving, and I might be that nameless boy the others saw staggering through the ranks, but I wasn't dead yet. My Name was still Yanek, and I was going to survive". This describes how he needed to survive even when he was at his worst, that is the main takeaway. And finally I do feel that my book does still have meaning and value today. This is because it still teaches and tells the true story of a boy that stood up to the Holocaust and never gave in. It also could give a reader who didn't know much about the Holocaust and give them a shocking wake up call on bad it really was for the Jewish people.
